This has probably been posted before, but I love the idea, and just someone hasn't read it, I want to share it ~~~~~~
WHEN I AM OLD I SHALL WEAR PURPLE
WITH A RED HAT THAT DOESN'T GO,
AND DOESN'T SUIT ME, AND I SHALL SPEND MY PENSION ON
BRANDY AND SUMMER GLOVES, AND SATIN SANDALS, AND SAY WE'VE NO MONEY FOR BUTTER
I SHALL SIT DOWN ON THE PAVEMENT WHEN I AM TIRED
AND GOBBLE UP SAMPLES IN SHOPS AND PRESS ALARM BELLS
AND MAKE UP FOR THE SOBRIETY OF MY YOUTH.
I SHALL GO OUT IN MY SLIPPERS IN THE RAIN
AND PICK THE FLOWERS IN OTHER PEOPLES GARDENS
AND LEARN TO SPIT.
YOU CAN WEAR TERRIBLE SHIRTS AND GROW MORE FAT
AND EAT THREE POUNDS OF SAUSAGES AT A GO OR
EAT PICKLES FOR A WEEK
AND HOARD PENS AND PENCILS AND BEER MATS AND
THINGS IN BOXES
BUT NOW WE MUST HAVE CLOTHES THAT KEEP US DRY AND PAY
THE RENT AND NOT SWEAR IN THE STREET
AND SET GOOD EXAMPLES FOR THE CHILDREN.
WE MUST HAVE FRIENDS TO DINNER AND READ THE PAPERS.
BUT MAYBE I OUGHT TO PRACTICE A LITTLE NOW/
SO PEOPLE WHO KNOW ME ARE NOT TOO SHOCKED AND SURPRISED
WHEN SUDDENLY I AM OLD AND START TO WEAR PURPLE.
by Jenny Joseph
Here's little story that this reminds me of.
My bestfriend,Morna, when she turned 60, decided that she would dye her hair purple, it actually looked great, and I really admired it.
One day when she was visiting I said " I wish I had light enough hair to be able to dye it purple like Morna's"
My lovely husband replied "Oh no, it wouldn't suit you, you don't have a sparkling personality like Morna."
Yes, I am still married to him. Walter is German and he often has trouble with the language, so I knew this was one of the times that he was really having trouble, and
we have never let him live it down.
Be strong, go with your heart, and beleive in miracles because anything can happen.

LOL!
Jacqui,
I LOVED that and realize that's exactly where I am now!....doing all the things I didn't dare do in my young years!
It's great!!! :)
Junie
(the blonde on the back of that motorcycle!!
The blonde getting into all the rock music she missed
over the years!
The blonde- just having FUN!!) (SMILE)
PS-I think you'd look GREAT with purple hair! :)
Jacqui
I just "borrowed" this for granny.
Wonderful. I've seen it someplace. I remember because purple is my favorite color and I like purple and red together.
No dowdy browns and blacks for this granny.
Ann
Bloody hell, Here I thought I was going crazy and all I was doing was growing old, what a relief.
Valter, you'll have to keep practicing your english!!
Hi Jacqui ~~ A great post, that I read today on Ann's blog. It seems a lot of
us oldies like purple, and so much of it
relates to how things are. I like June's blonde on a bike and into all the
music she tells us about.
I will pass on your message to Geoff.
Cheers, Merle.
Jacqui
Here's the link to the Red Hat Society. I knew the purple and red sounded familiar somehow.
Would you pass it on to Merle? I just posted it on granny too. Let's cheer them on.
Enjoy the cobbler. You can use berries - I remember we used a lot of blackberries in upstate NY.
Almost any fruit will work. Just don't be tempted to stir it. The batter will rise through the fruit.
